About DeadSaaS
Documenting the SaaS afterlife since 2025.
What is DeadSaaS?
DeadSaaS is a curated graveyard of discontinued SaaS products. We document what happened to the software that didn't make it — from billion-dollar moonshots killed by their parent companies to beloved indie tools that quietly faded away.
Why does this exist?
Every year, dozens of SaaS products shut down. Users are left scrambling for alternatives. Teams lose tools they depended on. And the stories behind these shutdowns — the pivots gone wrong, the acquisitions that killed innovation, the funding that ran dry — are worth preserving.
DeadSaaS exists to answer three questions people ask when software dies:
- What happened? — The full story behind the shutdown
- What should I use instead? — Curated alternatives that are still alive
- Did anyone else care? — A space to mourn, remember, and share stories
How it works
Each dead product gets a structured obituary page with its lifespan, cause of death, the full story of what went wrong, and a curated list of alternatives. Users can vote on products they miss and leave tributes sharing their memories.
